Getting Started

Prerequisites

  • Anki (free, all platforms)
  • AnkiConnect plugin for Anki
  • A browser with the Yomitan extension installed and configured
    • Specifically you’ll want the Yomitan API enabled (Remoki’s setup wizard will guide you)
  • Remoki Desktop app

Quick Start

Section titled “Quick Start”

  1. Install the desktop app

    Download Remoki Desktop for your platform and install it.

  2. Set up prerequisites

    Install Anki with AnkiConnect, and set up Yomitan in your browser. The desktop app includes a setup wizard that walks you through Yomitan configuration.

  3. Configure mining settings

    In the desktop app, go to Settings → Mining to select your Anki deck, note type, and configure field mappings.

  4. Install the mobile app and pair

    Install Remoki on your phone and scan the QR code shown in the desktop app’s Settings → Pairing tab.

  5. Start mining!

    Select any Japanese text on your phone, share it to Remoki, and watch it appear as an Anki card on your desktop within seconds.

How the Flow Works

Phone: select text → share to Remoki
  ↓
Cloud server: queues the text
  ↓
Desktop app: polls for new entries
  ↓
Yomitan: tokenizes text, looks up definitions
  ↓
AnkiConnect: creates the card in your deck
